# Module Annotation View ▸ Module Annotation… edits the text a module carries about itself: a one-line annotation, and a longer text of any length. The MODULE INFO panel shows both, and clicking either there opens this window. It is MED's own Set Annotation (OctaMED) or Module Annotation (Windows MED). Both texts belong to the module, not to a song. In a file holding several songs, every song shares them, and the title bar says so. ## Short text One line. Windows MED calls it the short text, and MODULE INFO shows it as MESSAGE. It is saved when you press **Enter** or leave the field. ## Long text Any length, over as many lines as you like: **Enter** starts a new line here. It is saved with **Ctrl+Enter**, or when you close the window with its ✕. It is stored apart from the short text, and MODULE INFO shows it under LONG TEXT. **CLEAR LONG TEXT** removes it from the module straight away. ## Latin-1 only MED stores both texts one byte per character, so only Latin-1 characters can be saved: no emoji, most non-European scripts, or curly quotes and dashes pasted from elsewhere. A change containing one is refused as a whole, and the status bar names the character. ## The line under the fields How long each text is: the short text in characters, the long text in characters and lines. An old MED song file that has no annotation of its own shows a note from Mediante in MODULE INFO, explaining why it plays silently. That note is not the module's text, so this window starts empty and says so, and what you type becomes the module's first real annotation. ## Saving and undo A change to either text is saved by rewriting the module rather than patching the original file. Both can be undone.
